Description

Whenever we see the map of the world, then we see our world in 7 different continents i.e. Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America, Australia and Antarctica. But a few million years ago, these seven continents were part of a single island. and you will be a shock knowing that our India, which is connected to the continent of Asia today, was not a part of Asia earlier. The Himalayas were born when India became a part of Asia. And the height of the Himalayas is increasing every year. So in today's video we will know that how India became a part of Asia continent? What was that one continent Pangaea? How was it broken? How many different continents did that form? Then how did we humans know that the 7 different continents were one island? you will get to know a lot more in this video, so stay with us till the end of the video.

Europeans were looking for a sea route to India. So the Italian sailor Christopher Columbus search a sea route to India. But in the year 1492, this journey of Columbus ended in America instead of India. In this way, he first reached the Caribbean islands. When it was found that this is not India, then the name of this island group became West Indies. With this journey that ended in America, the world got to know about two new continents. North America and South America. It was one of the biggest discoveries of that century.

After these two new continents discovered in that period, Dutch citizen Abraham Ortelius started work of making a new map of the world and in the year 1564 he made the first map of this new world which had 5 continents, and in the year 1570 he made a map named Theatrum Orbis Terrarum. Abraham observed that the southwestern part of the continent of Africa and the northeastern part of South America looked like two pieces of the same land. If these two pieces are mixed together, then they fit in each other's mold. He speculates that the two continents may have previously been part of a single piece of land and were separated by floods and earthquakes.

After that WJ Kios carried on Abraham's point. Kios said that South America, Africa and Europe, all three were previously one continent. But even he could not prove this theory. Alfred Wegener published a paper in the year 1911. This research paper carried forward Abraham's theory. Wenger said that all different parts of the world are like a jigsaw puzzle. The two American continents fit perfectly into Africa and Europe. Antarctica, Australia, India and Madagascar fit into a part of South Africa. At the same time, he told that there are similarities in the fossils found on different parts of the earth. He named it the Continental Drift Theory. The large part from which all these continents separated was named Pangea.

In 1915, Wegener wrote a book, 'Origin of Continents and Oceans'. In this book, he told in depth how similar rocks have been found in different parts of the earth. How is there so much similarity between the fossils found on different continents? If the ocean water is removed from the earth, then the whole earth is divided into some plates. These plates are called tectonic plates.

Research by the American Geographical Survey said that 33 million years ago, there was only one piece of land on Earth named Pangea. But 17 million years ago Pangea broke into two pieces. These two pieces were named Laurasia and Gondwanaland. When Gondwanaland broke up, South America, Africa, Australia, Antarctica and the Indian tectonic plate separated. Now in this the Indian plate separated and moved towards the Eurasian plate. Eurasian plate means on which Europe and Asia were settled. 50 million years ago the Indian plate entered this Eurasian plate. So a mountain went on forming at the place of collision. Today this mountain is called Himalaya, the world's largest mountain range. This Indian plate continues to penetrate the Eurasian plate even today. This is the reason why the height of the Himalayas is increasing every year.
