How Society Views Alcohol Culture Vs. Psychedelic Culture

The degree to which alcohol is normalized in this world is disturbing, considering its debilitating effects and addictive potential. It's estimated that 15 million Americans, which is about 5% of the country's population, suffers from an alcohol use disorder. That's absurd. While I am not calling for the making of alcohol illegal, I find it strange that we encourage alcohol consumption, yet demonize psychedelic drug use. Psychedelics can have life-changing positive impacts on a person, have virtually no addictive potential, and pose little to no harm to the user when used properly. It just doesn't make sense.
