How to Get Exempted From Articling | Alternatives to Articling
Description
This is the first episode of my new series “Alternatives to Articling”
Articling is a 10-month apprenticeship that law students have to do, after law school, on top of the bar exam, to become lawyers.
There are Alternatives to Articling like getting an EXEMPTION, doing an ABRIDGEMENT and the LAW PRACTICE PROGRAM (LPP) but nobody really talks about these alternatives. Most people make it seem like it’s either you ARTICLE or you DIE, and my hope is to explore the different ALTERNATIVES TO ARTICLING in this series to help ITL’s understand that they have other options.
In this video, I interviewed Joy Abaniwonda who is a non-practising Canadian lawyer and who is also trained in Nigeria, and she talks about how she was able to get an exemption from articling.
