The steps for hanging pegboard is:
#1) buy or cut three 8 foot 1x2's per sheet of pegboard.
#2) find and mark the studs for mounting the 1x2's
#3) mount the bottom and middle strip horizontally on the wall
#4) attach the top 1x2 to the back side of the pegboard
#5) cut out necessary holes for outlets or switches
#6) install a mounting block at middle side of pegboard to assist hanging
#7) hang pegboard attaching it to the middle 1x2 first
#8) organize and hang your tools - take your time!
