How to Make Your Own Silencer Drop Pads | GPS Human Performance
Description
Learn how to Make Your Own Silencer Drop Pads for $0 to keep your neighbors off you back. I know you can get some from Titan Fitness, GetRx or Rogue. But if you could saveI get that a lot of people will just buy them, but if you could save $100+ why wouldn't you?
In all honesty, it's a super easy DIY project if you have 30 mins or so. Save yourself the money and buy some other gym equipment.
My homemade Drop Pads are made from 3/8" thick carpet padding. This is used carpet padding out of an apartment that was being renovated. Not sure of the brand, but it's definitely not high end stuff. I cut it into 24" x 18" pieces and stacked 28 pieces on top of a 4" piece of density foam. The foam is not necessary. I had it already, couldn't return it so I used it. If I didn't have it I would've went with 40 pieces to of the padding.
Once it was all cut, scissors worked great, I stacked it up and wrapped it up. I had a left over roll of shrink wrap that we would use to wrap ice bags on athletes back from my ATC days. You could also wrap them in a sheet or use some bungees or tie-down straps to keep it all together.
I've been using these for over a month now with out issue or a complaint. Well at least no complaints of the bar dropping, I did get a complaint of the music being loud. But there is only one way to listen to Nickelback and this is all the way up!
All in all, I hope this can save some of you some $ and keep your neighbors happy. If you have questions just let me know in the comments.
