Huawei's involvement in 5G network not in Australia's best interest

Defence Minister Linda Reynolds says Australia must take a forward-leading approach in its decision to ban Huawei’s involvement in the 5G rollout.

Ms Reynolds said “where we see that there might be a decision or countries that are not in our sovereign interest, then we are taking very strong action”.

Tension have existed between Australia and China since Australia banned the telco in 2018 but Ms Reynolds stated economic relations remain solid.
