Today i.e., on 1st February 2020 Hyderabad Traffic Police launched new Road Safety initiative “ROAD SAFETY CLUBS” at Ravindra Bharathi Auditorium, Hyderabad to impart traffic education and inculcate road discipline among school children from early age.
In this august program, Sri. Md. Mahamood Ali, Hon’ble Minister for Home, Prisons and Fire Services, participated as chief guest. The launching programme of “Road Safety Club” started with the lighting of the lamp by Hon’ble Chief Guest and other guests and dignitaries of the dias.
Anil Kumar, IPS., Addl. Commissioner of Police presided over the program and welcomed the gathering. In his inaugural welcome address he briefed about the various traffic awareness programs being conducted by Hyderabad Traffic Police in connection with the observation of 31st Road Safety Week 2020 and informed that traffic awareness created in large number of motorists, drivers, youth and stake holders to bring change in their road behavior to control road accidents and thereby saving precious lives of citizens. While briefing about the inception and functioning of Road Safety Clubs, Addl. CP. Traffic, told that these Road Safety Clubs were started in Tamilnadu and yielded positive results and further informed that the Road Accidents drastically decreased to 40% in Tamilnadu due to bringing awareness in citizens, various road safety measures and enforcement of law. The formation of Road Safety Clubs in Schools of Hyderabad is a beginning of new chapter in Telangana State Road Safety aspect and this new initiative will be soon adopted all over the state.
While appreciating the new initiative of Hyderabad Traffic Police, Hon’ble Home Minister requested the Parents /School Managements/Students and Media to make this initiative of Hyderabad Traffic Police a grand success as 3000 schools in Hyderabad and 10 Lakhs students will be educated on Road Safety and Traffic Awareness and Road Discipline.
Before his address Hon’ble Home Minister unveiled the logo of “Road Safety Clubs” in the presence of all the other dignitaries.
Sri. Anjani Kumar, IPS., Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad city while addressing the school children told that the Telangana Government is paying utmost priority to the safety and security of the citizens. The participation of Hon’ble Home minister in this program itself reveals that how much priority given to the safety and security as desired by Sri. K. Chandrashekar Rao garu, our Honorable Chief Minister of Telangana State, on the day of formation of new Telangana State. CP, Hyderabad pointed out that every generation has responsibility to make the society better and better when compared to previous generations. The Traffic Police are thriving to provide better road safety to coming years. That is the reason for formation of Road Safety Clubs in schools by Hyderabad Traffic Police. He expressed that through these clubs the students will get wider perspective of Traffic Education and Awareness, Rules and Regulations of Road and culture of Law abiding citizenship. Finally CP, Hyderabad appealed the student to say “NO” when their parents, family members, friends and neighbours commit traffic violations like driving without helmet, driving without seat belt and other traffic violations and expressed his belief that the students of present generation will bring good image to Hyderabad city and Telangana.
South Indian Cine Actress Mrs. Samantha Akkineni, who participated in this event as special guest encouraged student by her motivational speech in which she highlighted the consciousness of children about the present age environmental and other issues which become danger to the society. She told that she learned many things from children in which effect of using plastic is the one. She encouraged students who joined in Road Safety Clubs and told that they are going to teach and correct the adults whenever they violate traffic rules. She thanked Hyderabad Traffic Police for forming “Road Safety Clubs” in schools. Another Tollywood cine Actor, Mr. Naga Shourya also participated in this program and informed the students that Traffic Police work in all situations of climatic conditions without any frustration. While addressing the students he told that through the Traffic Education, which thought in Road safety clubs, will be helpful to them to follow traffic rules when they become future citizens.
