India's new citizenship law: Prime Minister Modi slams Congress Party for opposing Constitution

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has slammed the opposition Congress Party for opposing the Constitution in its fight against the citizenship law. He accused the opposition and its supporters of rallying against the government’s efforts to prevent religious atrocities. The new law had sparked a month of nationwide protests. Demonstrations began in the northeast region before spreading to the west of the country. The majority of the protests are taking place in new Delhi, Assam, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
