Interest rates cut by 75 basis points to reduce coronavirus impact: RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das Friday in a video conference announced steps taken up the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to mitigate the coronavirus impact on the economy. While the Governor noted that his address comes amidst 'extraordinary circumstances', it comes a day after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced relief package worth Rs 1.76 lakh crore to help the poor and migrant workers. Das informed that the Monetary Policy Committee met from 24 March to 27 March.
