This student video from a University of Miami team won top prize in the 2020 Industry Advisory Board YouTube Video Contest. Its recognition of women’s role in industrial and systems engineering is timely – International Women in Engineering Day is June 23, marking the progress of female innovators in STEM fields around the world.

The influence of women in ISE began with Lillian Moller Gilbreth, a pioneer of industrial engineering, and continues today. An analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ 2018 data ranked industrial engineering third among the top 10 fastest growing jobs for women. That trend is reflected in IISE’s membership and leadership, where several women fill key decision-making roles.

In the June issue of ISE magazine, we highlight the contributions of women in ISE through essays and profiles featuring women from various backgrounds and careers. They each share stories of their success and the challenges they have overcome while offering advice for the next generation of female STEM professionals.
