ISL 2019-20 Week 9 Top 10 Goals ft. Messi, Vinit Rai & Michael Soosairaj
Description
The first week of the new year 2020 began on a strongly positive note in the Indian Super League. The season 2019-20 has arguably been the most competitive one in the history of ISL. Despite half the season passing by, no team has established a clear domination at the top with just a three-point gap between the top three.
ATK had a superb first half of the season and seem to refuse to give up on the top spot. The Kolkata outfit came out with a convincing 0-2 victory at Mumbai City FC at Mumbai Football Arena. Pronay Halder opened the scoring for the visitors while Michael Soosairaj capped the victory with a sublime curling strike.
On the other hand, Bengaluru FC too seal the three points in a hard-fought victory away at FC Goa. Skipper Sunil Chhetri struck twice for the Blues as Carles Cuadrat and Co rub shoulders with league-leaders ATK. Hugo Boumous pulled one back for the hosts but the last year's runners-up couldn't hold on to the defending champions.
In what came as the most enthralling fixture of the week, Kerala Blasters kick-started the new year with an absolute bang. The hosts put a staggering five goals past a helpless Hyderabad FC at home registering their first victory in five games. In-form Brazilian forward Bobo had given the visitors the lead in the first half but things went from bad to worse for Phil Brown and Co. Bartholomew Ogbeche equalised for the Blasters after Gianni Zuiverloon delivered a defence-splitting assist.
What followed was just a series of mishaps for the Nizams. Ogbeche scored his second of the game followed by Vlatko Drobarov's timely tap-in to make it 3-1 for the hosts in the first half. The goals just kept coming for the Blasters as Raphael Messi Bouli scored his side's fourth goal just near the hour mark.
Laxmikant Kattimani, making his first appearance in the league after almost a season and a half, was in goal for Hyderabad and had an utterly disappointing game. The custodian couldn't stop Seityasen Singh's ambitious drive from long distance and to the horror of everyone the ball ended up inside the net. With the win, the Blasters now climb up to the seventh spot.
Finally, Odisha FC marked the weekend fixture with a dominating 2-0 victory at home against Chennaiyin FC. Jerry Mawihmingthanga opened the scoring with a simple tap in while Vinit Rai score his first-ever goal in the ISL with an absolute stunner.
