50. Rogue always seems to make his way into the top 50
49. Best vocals of any San Holo song hands down
48. Speaking of vocals, this song single-handedly made Pauline Herr one of my favorite female vocalists
47. Wild Youth had some good stuff, but this tops it
46. Anki’s melodic can be pretty damn epic
45. Never saw this ranked very highly, but I like for the same reasoning as Heal Again. Just super chill
44. Drops super appealing to me
43. Chill with orchestral and brass, how can I dislike it?
42. May-October 2018 bitbird has to be my favorite time period of music. About 80% of the music in that time was stuff I really liked. And it’s super uncommon for anything on any given label to get over 15%

40. Jaron knows how to set himself apart from other artists and in a way that I can get behind

34. Drift is a track that can really send you off, and heavy props to KOAN sound for that

29. Xan Griffin had a breakout year with Zodiac
28. Conro did a phenomenal job here
27. The vocals and buildup really help push this to greatness
26. You probably weren’t expecting Slippy up here, but everything I like about him is in this song. Vocals help out tremendously as well
25. Wouldn’t expect a song with 4 different drops to work so well but it does
24. This wasn’t even in my initial bo2018 ranking, but as I was adding songs it caught on.
23. Melodic + glitchy = masterpiece here
22. Emotional Dion Timmer, yes
21. In my Anjuna ranking, this hadn’t even made the ranking, but listening back, the piano lead-in is breathtaking
20. To reiterate, Jason Ross was fire in 2018
19. All it took was Sublab to add a catchy melody to a Matt Van song I had no interest in to end up being in my top 20
18. Another song that didn’t really get ranked highly, but the vocals work so well on me
17. Again, thank you Spotify. This second drop is insane
16. Forward holds a special place as I can remember where I was when I first heard it and can correlate good memories each time I hear it
15. This is what I call a banger. My favorite from Robotaki
14. I love Flaws. Sorry if my reasoning are becoming bad writing 100 of them is hard
13. One of the best buildups and payoffs I’ve heard
12. The feeling Conro is going for here is done perfectly, and it’s right up my alley
11. For a while I had this as my favorite melodic song of 2018. I may have overplayed it a bit
10. One of my favorite chill tracks out there. What makes it even better is how no part repeats either
9. Holy cow. Great melodics and some of my favorite vocals this year. Xan Griffin really did it right here
8. Another song I adored throughout the year, Flaws just keeps getting better
7. The Fellow Feeling recreation I needed
6. I explained this better in my Anjuna ranking, but it becomes really catchy after a few listens, and Alison May’s vocals continue to be solid. The ending is also super satisfying
5. I can lose it to Machina probably easier than anything. The second drop is a god-tier banger
4. Hard to make a song that appeals to me better. Progressive, euphoric, and a melodic masterpiece
3. Wow. Koven really went all out with the emotion. Drives the song to greatness
2. Second what I said about #6 as I have explained this better, Any song that takes me away from where I am deserves to be top of the board. I think more emphasis on the RBBTS vocals would've been good but regardless, the progessive nature and emotional appeal make this seemingly average trance track special to me
1. What makes a song #1 for me is one that’s relaxing, takes me away, and is a vocal and instrumental masterpiece. All those boxes are checked here. Fij did it, and I can’t be happier
