KUWAITI THALI Breakfast + Visiting LITTLE INDIA - Jleeb Al Shuyoukh | Kuwait City, Kuwait
Description
With only 48 hours to explore as much of Kuwait as possible, I didn’t waste any time on my second and final day in the country. I got up early and headed out to have a mind-blowing Kuwaiti thali breakfast and visited the Little India area in Kuwait City, Kuwait. Come along with me as I kick off my second day in this amazing and underrated country!

I linked back up with my boy Yousef from Local Tour Kuwait, who took me to a modern Kuwaiti diner called Café Bazza to have a traditional Kuwaiti breakfast!
I went with the Dasman Combo (roughly $25 USD), which contains a basket of baqsam, darabeel, Kuwaiti cake, jam, cream, honey, chicken liver, hummus, foul, eggs with feta cheese, and tanoor bread. Breakfast comes with Kuwaiti tea, which is basically hot, fresh black tea with no sugar. It comes from Sri Lanka. I could drink it all day!
Then, our breakfast arrived! It’s similar to an Indian thali because of all the plates. First, I tried a Kuwaiti cake with the tea. It was fantastic! Then, I went for the fluffy bread with the cheese omelet and herbs inside.
Next, I tried the foul, which was a delicious mix of beans and tomatoes, followed by the chicken liver, which was covered in a tasty, glazy sauce similar to balsamic vinegar. Next, I went for some of the fantastic hummus, some creamy feta cheese, the light yogurt, and a cinnamon cake that I drizzled honey on top of. It was all stellar!
After we finished up, I learned that several of the waiters on the staff were fans of mine! It’s always amazing to meet fans! I thanked them for their support, and then Yousef and I headed out through the mall and to our next destination, the Sadu House museum.
Outside the museum was a beautiful Kuwaiti ship that was used to sail to India to sell their pearls before they struck oil.
Sadu House is a cultural center that promotes Kuwaiti textile arts and related skills. There, we saw Al Sadu, a traditional Kuwaiti handcraft that’s similar to a long, woven rug and is used as a tent divider or home decoration. We saw how they’re used and made from dyed goat and sheep hair.
Then, I learned about the Sadu patterns, which the weavers would use to communicate with each other since they couldn’t read or write. Each pattern tells a story. Then, we saw some urban weaving, which consists of contemporary formalwear for weddings. Then, I saw a seat that is put on top of a camel for women to sit on. It has a tent over it to protect them from the sun! It was really nice and all made of wool.
We visited a gathering room where women weave their sadus and then visited the gift shop, where you can buy wool products. From there, we headed to Jumo Coffee next door. Coffee culture is huge in Kuwait!
I tried their cold brew, which was really good! Afterward, I felt super energized! Then, we headed to Jleeb Al Shuyoukh, which has a huge Indian population, among others.
I could see lots of Indian establishments. We stopped at Balancia Bakery Sweet and Pastries to get some lassi for half a Kuwaiti dinar, or about $2 USD. The lassi was really good and not super thick like the ones in Amritsar.
This area felt like I was in India in Kuwait. We passed by the United Indian School, which had just gotten out of session. It was amazing! Then, we passed by tons of shops and restaurants. Everything we passed by was Indian!
