LeBron James joins Liverpool ownership group after 'significant investment' into Fenway Sports

RedBird Capital Partners has agreed a "significant investment" into Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group, which will see NBA star LeBron James become part of the Premier League club's ownership group.

Liverpool are understood to be hopeful the new deal will bring some much-needed financial stability after the Premier League champions suffered an estimated £120m loss in revenues during the coronavirus pandemic.

The new investment, which is believed to be a 10 per cent minority holding, will ease the burden on FSG, and it is expected that it will remove the risk of Liverpool's plans to redevelop the Anfield Road Stand.
