Thousands are watching as London welcomes 2020 with a spectacular firework display to celebrate the New Year.

The annual celebration is being held, as usual, at the London Eye, with fireworks being set up on boats floating on the River Thames at the South Bank.

Australia was one of the first countries to welcome the New Year, with displays in Sydney taking place around 12 hours prior to London's event.
