LSU Football: Tigers Among Top Schools For Caleb Williams & Maason Smith + Dakota Mitchell Commits

LSU football had to cancel spring practice and is under a recruiting dead period, however, college football never truly stops at Chat Sports. The LSU Tigers recently picked up their fifth commitment for the 2021 class with 3-star safety Dakota Mitchell who had offers from Clemson, Auburn and Alabama. The defending national champions have the No. 16th ranked class nationally and good enough for 4th in the SEC but don’t expect the Tigers to stay there. Especially considering they’re finalists to land Caleb Williams, Maason Smith & Kaine Williams.

Top 100 standouts Caleb Williams, Maason Smith, Bryce Langston and Kaine Williams all announced LSU as a finalist for their recruitment. Caleb Williams is a 5-star quarterback and a potential future Heisman Trophy Winner. However, LSU is the only SEC finalist for the mobile gunslinger out of Maryland. Chat Sports analyst Carter Bryant believes Smith, Langston and Kaine are vital targets not only for their defensive prowess but because their other potential schools are all SEC rivals.

LSU is also in the running for 4-star quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who intended to announce his commitment in mid-April. However, he decided to push back due to the current world crisis. The Tigers are currently the front-runner for Nussmeier but Texas, Baylor and North Carolina are all in the mix. Ed Orgeron was also pleased to see the Tigers make the Top 6 for 4-star receiver Quaydarius “Quay” Davis.
