In this video I compare Apples 2019 Mac Pro with 12 core Xeon processor, Vega II 32GB graphics MPX card, 192GB of RAM and Apples Afterburner card to the 2017 iMac Pro and 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro in regards to video editing.

I tested Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X, and Davinci Resolve 16 with a huge variety of tests including Pugetbench, Bruce X, Blackmagic RAW speed tests, 6K and 4K braw, Canon cinema raw lite C200, Reds .R3D RAW both 4.5K and 8K and a variety of compressed 4K codecs like H.264, H.265 HEVC both in 8 bit and 10 bit for HDR.

The Mac Pro is a crazy machine and for some video editors and 3D animators, it makes a lot of sense especially if you need macOS and you compare it to a highly specced iMac Pro. Mine is the base model with an 8-Core Xeon and Vega 56 8GB graphics and the 16" MacBook Pro that I tested has an 8-Core intel i9 processor with AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB graphics and 32GB of RAM.

I also talk about important things like the W5700X MPX card that is coming to the Mac Pro and how the new Navi based GPU will help for 10-bit hardware encoding. I also talk about dual gpu's using Infinity Fabric connectors and how that works including the Vega II duo.

If you want to get suggestions on which Mac Pro spec to buy for video editing for Premiere Pro, Resolve, and FCX I give those suggestions as well especially what you should avoid.
