Maithon Dam Cinematic Vlog|| All You need to Know with 1 day Plan||

TRAVEL PLAN For 1 day -
i) So if you are coming from Kolkata, Durgapur ,Raniganj side. 1st take a short halt on "Ghagar Buri Chandi Mata Temple" just beside the NH19.(you can park your car/bike near the the temple which is free) Better to leave the place around 10 am, Otherwise you will get less time to explore Maithon Dam.
Entry- Free ii) After that go to Pahari Baba's Temple, which is on the top of a hill. there are several stairs which you have to climb to get a mesmerizing view of the total dam and its surrounding area. Entry- FREE iii) After that by enjoying the cool breeze while walking beside the lake, cross the dam and get to the down of the dam from its Right side.(but while crossing the dam don't forget to see the deer on your left side from the top of the dam, you can't actually enter the park as it is prohibited area. ) And park your vehicle near "millenium park" which is free. After that you have to cross a little trail between the forest to come to the spot where water is falling after been utilized(You can't come here during monsoon as that time water been released at a very high speed).Entry- Free. iv) So after spending some time there. walk or ride towards the Kendriya Vidyalaya or if you have bike, then go towards Maithon Helipad/Pumping Station. Nothing special is there, but you can find some spot where there will be no one other than you, beside the lake, you can enjoy your alone time.
You can also take a boat ride from the ferry ghat near dam area. You can allways bargain for rates. Boat usually take you to various islands between the lake(there is nothing in those island, just forest, but you can always enjoy a relaxing boat ride to refresh yourself) v) If you want to stay , you will find some accommodation beside the main road just after crossing Pahari Baba's temple. Also you can stay in Majumdar Nivas, in a small island, Just beside the road in the dam area(But You have to pre book the resort , from the kolkata head office).
After that before returning for your home , don't forget to visit the auspicious temple Of Maa Kalyaneswari Temple just a few km from the dam.

1 How to reach there-i)BY TRAIN:-From Howrah Station catch trains heading for Asansol or Kumardubi (KMME).Maithon is 30 km from Asansol, local auto will charge approx ₹300-₹400 Or you can take public bus which take Rs20-30.From Kumardubi,Maithon is only 9 km,local auto charges ₹100.
ii)BY BUS:-FIRST come to Asansol by bus from Kolkata/Bardhaman/Durgapur/Raniganj.After that you can hire auto,car(cost rs 200-600) or take public bus.iii)BY CAR:-From kolkata take NH19, A beautiful road to Maithon dam,which is about 250 KM. But you have to cross through 2 or more Toll Tax Booth before Durgapur. But after crossing Durgapur there is no Toll. Transport available from spot- Only You will get Autos in the spot.Although you will not need any transport to explore the place. 2 Best time of a day to visit- December,January(PICNIC SEASON). Although you can visit in monsoon when water is released from dam. You can also visit in November and February as rates will be quite low. 3 Cost-All cost and Entries are free.But you can enjoy Activities Like boating with paying reasonable amount. 4 Where to Stay:- (Not Sponsored):-Majumdar Nivas(Pre Book),Maithon Forest guest House, WBTDC Maithon Lodge, Diya Guest House,Hotel Shantinivas,Hotel maithon,Asha resorts,Hotel Surya Nivas,Hotel Yatri Nivas,Hotel Barsha.5 Food nearby-There are All local food stalls all over the place where you can enjoy All types of fast food. Also to have Lunch or dinner you can go to the nearby hotels like Hotel Barsha, Maithon Hotel and Restaurant, etc.. near Pahari Babas temple. 6 Approx time to explore the place.-1 day is enough to enjoy the place.Activities Available- Row boat, Paddle Boat,Speed boat.
