Manhunt underway after University of New Orleans student carjacked, police officer fired at

Authorities say a person opened fire at an Orleans Levee District Police officer who was investigating a carjacking Monday morning, prompting a large manhunt off Interstate 10.

The New Orleans Police Department said the officer was shot at around 10 a.m. shortly after spotting the stolen car near Bullard Avenue and Barrington Drive. The officer was not hurt in the shooting.
