Introduction
MD in Endocrinology is a 2-year full- time program in the branch of medicine which deals with the endocrine, its diseases, its specific secretions called hormones, the integration of developmental events such as proliferation, growth, and differentiation, and the coordination of metabolism, respiration, excretion, movement, reproduction, and sensory perception depending on chemical cues, substances synthesized and secreted by specialized cells. The medical specialty of endocrinology involves the diagnostic evaluation of a wide variety of symptoms and variations and the long-term management of disorders of deficiency or excess of one or more hormones
Now let’s go to, Nature of Work
An endocrinologist is a specialized physician. Endocrinology is a subspecialty of internal medicine. In addition to understanding general medical treatment of the human body and primary care, endocrinologists complete additional training in treating the hormone system of the body, including ductless glands of internal secretion. Such glands include thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, pancreas, and glands in the reproductive organs of men and women. Some of the most common issues that endocrinologists help to diagnose, treat or manage are diabetes, irregular metabolism, growth disorders in children, weight issues, hypo- and hyperthyroidism, and more.
They cover a lot of ground, diagnosing and treating conditions that affect you’re:
• Adrenals, glands that sit on top of your kidneys and help to control things like your blood pressure, metabolism, stress response, and sex hormones
• Bone metabolism, like osteoporosis
• Cholesterol

• Candidates who wish to do MD should have cleared 10+2 or equivalent examination, with a minimum of 50% marks in physics, chemistry and biology.
• Aspiring candidates should have completed an M.B.B.S. degree with minimum 50% marks.
• Some of the very reputed institutes conduct an entrance examination for admission.
• Candidate should have completed a 1- year compulsory rotating internship after passing the final professional examination which is MBBS before 30th April of the academic year.
