Most Popular Websites 1991 - 2020
Description
#Most_Popular_Websites_2020 #Top_Websites_2020 #Internet_history a Visualization Timeline of the most popular websites by monthly visitors or hits during the period of 29 years from 1991 to this year 2020. The first website or online page went online on the 6th of August 1991. It was dedicated to information on the World Wide Web project and was made by Tim Berners-Lee. It ran on a NeXT computer at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN.
It's hard to think back on what it was like to surf the internet of 1991. There was no Facebook or Twitter. No streaming video on YouTube, Hulu or Netflix. Google was barely a glint in Sergey Brin's and Larry Page's eyes. So what did people do online back then?
