Description
When Abhishek Agrawal came to Singapore from India in 2011, he faced every immigrant's challenge of fitting into the local culture. Then he decided to reach out by volunteering, and taking up lessons in Mandarin - and it changed his life in Singapore.
From singing Teresa Teng songs at karaoke, to forming friendships with hawkers and his Singaporean Chinese landlord, he found himself making deeper connections. He also co-founded a biomedical start-up, Kinexcs, which is in talks with local hospitals to launch a remote-monitoring device that could bring hope to knee surgery patients.
