Hello! Today Steph tel interesting story.
This is my story. No, it’s not quite mine. It’s my mum’s story - the history of a disease for which there’s no cure. Well, or not a disease – it’s up to you to decide what it is.
Anyway, our family is large and very sociable. Mum has a lot of relatives, dad has three brothers and their families... During holidays, our tables are crammed with food. And the number of people could ruin our house. Yeah, and in the working days, the guests flow from house to house. There’s actually no such days that we didn’t have guests.
Of course, my parents never forbade me gathering friends or having parties. I would even say they all backed it. So, I always had my friends in the house. Some kind of music was always playing. And sometimes, it seemed to me this crowd wasn’t coming to me, but just hanging out with my parents. Anyway, it was loud and fun. Always. Constantly.
And once, one of my friends lost her earrings. It’s unpleasant, of course. But it’s not so terrible. Though they were gold and it was a gift from her parents, they still aren’t of some rare kind. Half of the city had the same earrings. But the thing was they disappeared somewhere at our place. Well, or not, she wasn’t sure where exactly. My parents told her that they would look for them. And as soon as they found the earrings, they’d return them. And a couple of weeks later, mum herself was wearing the same earrings.
Anyway, I didn’t connect these two events. Because it was this model that became very popular and was sold almost for free in all jewelry stores. It was easier to tell who didn’t have them. And when I asked my mum about the new earrings, she shrugged and said she had bought them in a shopping center. We stopped here. Until my dad’s elder sister started to complain she had lost some precious keychain that her eldest daughter brought from abroad.
And again, it disappeared at our place. But I didn’t know for sure, because it could have disappeared somewhere on the street. A month later, mum boasted to our neighbors about the very keychain. She said she bought it in the city. It was already... strange. Especially because she didn’t boast about the thing in front of my aunt. But she showed it to everyone else as some kind of treasure.
Then, the people around us lost rings, chains and pendants... Not the most expensive, often even usual ones. But they were just beautiful. And the thing is no one could say exactly where they lost their jewelry. No one connected the loss with our place. Except for me, because, after a while, I found similar things with my mum. But when I asked her directly, she was hurt. She advised me to watch less detective series.
The thing happened when we were visiting my mum’s relatives. There, my youngest sister boasted about something her boyfriend gave her - some very beautiful enamel brooch. It seemed like he even did it himself. But my sister didn’t believe it. And, at some point, I went to the toilet and saw my mum leave her sister's room and hide something in her pocket. It dawned on me.
At first, mum tried to deny everything. And so sincerely that I even felt guilty. But at home, I got into the jewelry box and... there was the brooch on top of the rest of the junk. I didn’t talk to mum that time. I decided to talk to my dad first. But he said he wasn’t going to get into the women's business. And how could MUM steal! It might just seem to me!
And I decided to arrange "fishing for bait". I invited one of my friends - a big fashionmonger and a lover of bright things. I put cameras around the house. Or rather, I just set up a working CCTV system. We never used it that way, but here, it came in handy. So, when Ingrid discovered one of her pendants was missing, I already had real video evidence.
