Graced the celebration of one of the great community and cultural leader Wabar Abdille Wabar Abdi of the Degodia clan, Somali community living in the Horn of Africa. He is a peace, religious and cultural Ambassador based in Ethiopia.
Wabar Abdille is the 12th Wabar in the leadership lineage and this is his first-time visit in Kenya to enhance peace and unity between neighbouring communities and countries.
We need peace, security, stability and reconciliation and in-line with President Uhuru and Kenya’s policy of a peaceful and stable region, urged our leaders to spearhead peace and reconciliation among the Somali and Cushitic communities leaving along the borders of our countries.
War Abdille prayed for unity, peace and stability among our communities and the nation. He prayed for the Kenyan leadership under President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Urged the somali community and it’s leadership to shun clanism and forge a united front in order to spear head the economic development of the community and that of Kenya.
Thanks to the top Somali politicians, religious leaders, business men and women, senior civil servants, youth, women and professional leaders of the community for gracing the occasion. In attendance were Ambassadors from Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti, Governor’s Mohamud (Marsabit), Governor Korane (Garissa) and Governor Abdi (Wajir) among other leaders.
The Degodia community has a unique traditional system of leadership/authority. Supreme authority is vested in the Wabar and exercised through a consultative process that brings together community representatives (guurti) and council of elders. The Wabar has got 15 advisors and over 100 council of elders.
The Degodia nation across the world is united under one leadership of the Wabar. Therefore his traditional jurisdiction transcends space.
Succession in the Wabar system of leadership is determined by descent. The crown is inherited through family lineage. Pedigree plays a critical role in determining who is crowned as the next Wabar.
