National Development Council upbeat on Taiwan’s economy in 2020

The National Development Council gave an optimistic forecast for Taiwan’s economy next year. At a news conference on Tuesday, NDC Minister Chen Mei-ling said that although global growth will likely be subdued, Taiwan’s outlook is more upbeat.Chen said investment sentiment is likely to keep increasing among Taiwanese manufacturers. She said that the NDC’s economic leading indicators, which predict future growth, had performed well in the first 10 months of 2019. Turning to the world economy, she said that uncertainties surrounding Brexit and the U.S.-China trade war are likely to weigh on spending and affect growth.
