New UK COVID-19 social distancing rules explained as virus deaths top 13,000

UK police released new guidelines on social distancing rules, which cover exercise, work and valid reasons to leave your house.

Over 3000 fines have been issued by police since the lockdown began three weeks ago. Some regional police institutions have caused controversy by sending out mixed messages, such as this Cambridge police chief who threatened that people’s shopping may be checked if they were buying non-essential items, only to backtrack hours later.

New rules issued by The National Police Chief's Council and the College of Policing make clear what is and isn’t acceptable in COVID-19 Britain.

Some rules remain the same, for example, key workers and some non-key workers can travel to work where it is not possible to work from home, and you can deliver food to the elderly and vulnerable. However it is banned to work in a local park if you can work from home, or to knock on doors offering do cash-in-hand work.
