New Volkswagen MK8 Golf // GTI, Golf R and Alltrack updates
Description
The new MK8, or Mark 8 VW Golf has been introduced in the European market. The base Golf will not be offered in the United States after the current MK7 Golf is finished. Canada will get the new MK8 Golf in the summer of 2021 as a 2022 model. In addition, the new GT and Golf R will arrive at roughly the same time. The new VW Golf is the same size as the current car but with a sleeker nose and headlamps, the wheelbase remains the same. The new MK8 Golf comes with standard LED headlamps and tail lamps with wheel sizes from 16-to-18-inches. The interior is a highlight, with a standard digital dash complete with a 10-inch screen. The infotainment screen is a standard 8.25-inch unit with an optional 10-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. The new Golf comes standard with forward collision warning and autonomous braking. Powering the new Golf is a 1.5L 4-cylinder with 150hp and 184lb.-ft. of torque. The all-new VW Golf comes with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, replacing the 8-speed Tiptronic sold in the current car. The power and design of the GTI and Golf R have not been introduced at this time.
