North Macedonia in Eurovision - Top 10 (2010 - 2019)
Description
10 - The song itself is great, despite the odd genre switches in between, but dear god, everything was flushed down the drain as soon as rehearsal footage was revealed. Everything turned completely abysmal. The vocals were horrendous, the outfits hideous, and the staging was nearly impossible to look at without cringing.
9 - Again, everything that could be done wrong, WAS done completely wrong here. Terrible vocals, awkward performance and those dancers were so freaking unfitting. I never cared for the song, and frankly, I probably won’t care for it, ever.
8 - This song actually isn’t completely terrible. The guy’s vocals are pretty good, and I don’t dislike the staging. It’s just… I know it’s rude to say this, but Esma completely ruined it. I know, she passed away a handful of years ago, so I don’t mean to throw shade at her too much, but I feel like the song would have been better off without her. But with Israel and San Marino not qualifying from the same semifinal, I still think they wouldn’t stand a chance either way.
7 - Actually, this song is pretty fun. Again, RIP since this guy died a handful of years ago as well. But if I look back to 2011, I noticed, from all the songs that didn’t qualify… I don’t really think of this one. This song quickly falls to the background for me. In other words, I still think it’s pretty forgettable.
6 - Though I like Kaliopi’s personality, I just can’t bring myself to like this song. Her vibrato is just way too much for me. For her earlier entry in 2012 I didn’t mind it as much, but holy hell, it’s unbearable to hear this vibrato for more than 3 minutes. Good thing I didn’t have to.
5 - Here’s another entry with lackluster staging. Decent song, good vocals, but I forget this song all the time, unless if I try to recall it really hard, which happens, like, never. For a rock song, that’s not exactly a good thing. No, for any genre, that’s not exactly a good thing.
4 - Again, lost potential. The song could have actually done well, were the staging more memorable and Tijana a bit stronger vocally. Though the concept was interesting, it just didn’t work, and in a pretty damn strong semifinal, this song stood no chance.
3 - By a landslide, this song was a hundred times better than Dona. The mix-up of ballad to rock went so unexpectedly, and her scream near the end is so iconic! The instrumental did a great job backing her strong vocals, and in fact, I didn’t mind her vibrato here as much. I still didn’t like it, but it’s really not so bad with this one.
2 - I’m still pretty dissapointed that Croatia qualified over this song. I love song - I still listen to it - and her vocals and staging were completely fine with me. Not sure if she was actually pregnant, but if so, respect for the fact that she still pulled off some decent moves. Again, I’m still pretty sad that this didn’t qualify. This could have been the turning point for all Macedonians.
1 - Funny how this year, North Macedonia finally broke their record of being the ‘Country we haven’t seen in the final for the longest time (still participating countries)’. Tamara’s performance was not only anthemic, it was finally a Macedonian performance that was greatly staged! The mirrors in the background in the beginning, the pictures in the background during the string solo, and let’s not forget Tamara’s awesome vocals! She, was, iconic. Thank you Tamara, for bringing your country back to the final again. Let’s not forget, she also brought her country to the top 10 for the very first time, and even won the jury vote!
