Description

This trip takes Simon to Swinton in South Yorkshire and Rotherham but Simon travels between Crewe and Sheffield on Northern 10p Tickets which was a promotional offer by Northern Railways

Simon starts at 0650 in the morning catching a London Northwestern Railway service to Rugeley Trent Valley and then the 0709 to Crewe. Once at Crewe, captured the Network Rail New Measurement Train passing through the next service was the 0816 Northern service to Liverpool Lime Street but went as far as Manchester Piccadilly on it (the finger clicking trick was inspired by Joel D Hardy and GLovesTrains) and boarded Northern Class 150, 150119 to Sheffield via the Hope Valley Line.

At Sheffield there was lots of Class 144 Pacers working services out of Sheffield to Doncaster, Gainsborough Central or Adwick, sadly the Class 142 Pacers were not in Sheffield during filming! but Simon boarded a Class 144 Pacer to Swinton in South Yorkshire, there is another Swinton but that is in the Greater Manchester.

At Swinton, spend an hour and a half filming trains from Pacers, Sprinters, Voyagers, Desiros to Class 66 Diesel Locomotives on Freight trains but it was time to move onto another station. Simon boarded the 1319 to Sheffield but got off at Rotherham Central Station filming Northern Railways Diesel Multiple Units to the Sheffield Stagecoach Super Tram Class 399 EMUs, known as the Tram-Train. But during my time at Rotherham Central. Simon did get confronted by a undercover police officer who started questioning me (it all explained at 35:24 in the video) but after some filming at Rotherham Central, Simon moved to a disused Station of Rotherham Masborough which was a wonderful location and a awesome disused station to look at.

After Rotherham Masborough, Simon walked it back to Rotherham Central and took the 1528 to Sheffield and took a ride on his very first Sheffield SuperTram to Park Grange Tram stop and then headed back to Sheffield Railway Station to film another Network Rail test train but this one was the Class 950 which was a Class 150 DMU and then headed back to Manchester Piccadilly on the 1714 Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly which was Class 150, 150119... again!

Back at Manchester, Simon caught some Manchester Metrolink M5000 Trams and then caught a CrossCountry Trains Class 221, 221121 (I'm aware that it says Class 221121) to Stafford but travelled First class. Simon then caught some evening freight including the HOBC (High Output Ballast Cleaner) Train which was worked by top and tailed Class 66 Diesels but after getting something to eat in Stafford, Simon boarded the 2105 to Rugeley Trent Valley and then the 2125 to Rugeley Town to end the vlog.
