Out of control bushfire burning only kilometres away from Canberra's south

Homes and properties have been destroyed with multiple out of control bushfires burning in NSW’s south east as well as in the ACT closing the Monaro highway due to dangerous bushfire conditions.

Residents have been warned that although the Orroral Valley bushfire has been downgraded to watch and act, there will be an increase of intensity around all edges of the 35-hectare bushfire.

Weather conditions frequently changed throughout Saturday which made it extremely difficult for firefighters to tackle the bushfire.

Canberra’s southern suburbs remain on alert with an out of control blaze burning just kilometres to the south.
