Paper Folding With Harry Eng
Description
Welcome to the Corona Virus Chronicles... Tim is now presenting his videos from his apartment, via a web link.
Apologies for the video quality. Tim hopes to get his broadband upgraded next week.
Harry Eng was a Chinese-American who lived in California. He was born in 1932 and died in 1996. He was a school teacher, but he was famous for his 'impossible bottles' - glass bottles which contained all sorts of items that basically were too big to fit through the neck of the bottle.
Back in 1993, Harry Eng came to the UK, and one of the people he visited, not surprisingly, was Tim! He visited Tim in his apartment, and Tim was able to show Harry all sorts of interesting items from Tim's famous toy collection. And in return, Harry made some folded paper items for Tim.
In the video, Tim explains that Harry asked Tim to take them to a greengrocer shop, in order to see if they could spare one of those paper sacks that contain fruit and vegetables, and are made from extremely tough brown paper. And it was this tough paper that Harry used to make various items, including a hat, a belt, a visor and finally a large wallet, useful for containing large bank notes - which of course Tim has!!
