Peter Crouch congratulated live on BT Sport as Tottenham star Harry Kane trolled over vote
Description
Peter Crouch has been congratulated live on BT Sport after he was voted as Tottenham’s best striker of the past 10 years. Crouch won a Twitter vote posted by Tottenham’s official account earlier this week as the north London club asked fans for their team of the decade. The former England forward won 61 per cent of the vote, ahead of current Tottenham forward Harry Kane, who claimed 32 per cent, and Jermain Defoe. But it was clear it was not just Spurs fans who had their say in the poll. Supporters of other clubs, including Crouch’s former side Liverpool, sabotaged the vote so that the 38-year-old would beat Kane. And BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey jokingly congratulated Crouch ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Brighton today. “We should start by saying how honoured we both are to be alongside Tottenham’s greatest striker of the past decade,” Humphrey said. The Liverpool fans…” And Crouch admitted that was probably the case, concluding: “They’ve been good to me, they’ve been good to me.” DON'T MISSPremier League done deals: Every confirmed transfer in the top flight this January [TRANSFERS]Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd readying £50m bid, Arsenal January exit agreed, Chelsea swap deal [BLOG]2020 Crystal Ball: Liverpool title glory, Serena Williams wins Wimbledon, Tyson Fury loses [OPINION] READ MORE Mourinho set for Tottenham contract boost after Alderweireld decision Crouch spent two seasons at Tottenham during his playing days with just 18 months of his spell being in the 2010s. Spurs joked they had received a message from Twitter, writing: “From Twitter: ‘We detected suspicious activity on your account’.” Some fans, rather tongue in cheek, claimed Spurs disrespected Crouch with their tweet. “Respect Crouchy?” wrote one. Trending “If Crouchy ain’t involved it’s rigged, respect your greatest ST of all time,” tweeted another. Another fan seemed more serious with their complaint though. They tweeted: “Are you suggesting that you don't agree with the public vote you put forward? If you didn't expect a candidate to get votes, that means you put them forward as a joke candidate right! "By the way where is Robbie Keane? He left the same time as crouch, still better than Kane.” Other Liverpool fans were loving the result of the vote thou
