Pregnant Woman With COVID-19 Successfully Delivers Baby While in Coma
Description
Blanca, a young pregnant mother, was admitted to the intensive care unit at UC San Diego Health in late March after testing positive for COVID-19. She could barely breathe and needed to be intubated. Her life-threatening condition required a multi-disciplinary medical team to deliver her baby via emergency cesarean section.
When Blanca awoke nearly a month later, she learned she had delivered her daughter.
Blanca and her baby were discharged last week and are spending Mother’s Day together.
