President Trump ‘is getting aggressive to take down coronavirus’
Description
US President Donald Trump is cutting Europe off from the United States “in a very aggressive attempt to dramatically slowdown the spread and death toll from the Coronavirus in America,” says Sky News host Chris Smith.
On Thursday, President Trump announced a month-long travel ban from Europe to the US in an attempt to confront the coronavirus crisis.
The US president said he was in charge of "the most aggressive and comprehensive effort to confront a foreign virus in modern history".
Speaking in a rare Oval Office appearance, President Trump said he would be "marshalling the full power of the federal government" and respond to the threat “with great speed and professionalism”.
Mr Kenny said despite the announcement from Donald Trump, the suspension of the rest of the NBA season in America and confirmation actor Tom Hanks has been diagnosed with the disease, Australians shouldn’t be overly alarmed.
“For the vast majority of Australians, there is no reason to panic, and no reason for fear,” Mr Smith said.
He said Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his government should “focus their attention” not just on the provision of medical services and stimulus payments, but also on the “psychological fight”.
The government must aim to “keep people calm, living normally and behaving a whole lot better,” he said.
“The sooner the federal government begins to run a calm, clear and concise ad campaign, to present the facts, and dispel the myths, the better we're all going to be.
“It is not time for panic, because panic only makes the solution harder to achieve”.
