Okay so there is a lot of competition in the ultimate series, as you'd expect as they are the best cars in the game. First thing to note is that the three special cars in this class are the top three cars in the class. So I will treat the other six cars that you can unlock separately, as some may have not unlocked any of the special cars.
Without a doubt the TVR speed 12 is the best car in the game. Of course it is, you have to beat the game on platinum so it better be the best car! Crazy acceleration throughout the whole range all the way up to it's top speed of 230mph(ish) (Best in the class). Very good handling and brakes, although does slide a bit even at the higher speeds around corners. Of course if you are watching this playthough, there's a high chance you don't have the TVR unlocked. So the next best car is between the Mercedes CLK-GTR and the Porsche 911 GT1. For all tracks apart from the Nurburgring, the CLK-GTR is fantastic. Very good low-mid acceleration, only beaten by the TVR and Koenigsegg. Amazing brakes and handling with no powersliding. Very easy to drive quickly. It's biggest weakness is its top end acceleration and top speed (195mph (ish)). Which is why it gets dropped badly on the Nurburgring. You'll need to beat the game on gold to unlock this. The 911 GT1 has much more balanced acceleration throughout the whole range to it's respectable top speed of 210mph (ish). A little bit more unstable than the CLK-GTR around corners, but still doesn't really powerslide. Very good handling and brakes, this car is very suited to the Nurburgring due to it's top end acceleration and high speed cornering. This car is also much more accessible for people as you have to beat the game on silver to unlock, which is very reasonable.
Now if you don't have any of these cars unlocked, there are still decent cars available to use. The two best cars that you can buy with tokens are the Ferrari Enzo (22 tokens) and the Koenigsegg CC V8S (22 Tokens). Much like the two previous cars discussed, one is more suited to the Nurburgring, and the other to all other tracks. The Koenigsegg has blistering acceleration up to 150mph, only beaten by the TVR. This factor alone makes street races on normal tracks much much easier. After 150mph when the car changes to 5th gear, The acceleration falls off massively and it starts to get passed by most cars. It has the third best top speed of 219mph (ish), but takes longer than most to get there. It also doesn't feel very nimble, and the brakes are quite poor. That aside, it doesn't handle too badly, and the low end acceleration will win races. The Enzo is a much more balanced car. Like the 911 GT1 it has strong acceleration throughout the whole range, especially at the top end up to an impressive 224mph (ish). This car struggles at low speed cornering however, as it starts to slide badly with an out of control feel. It also understeers more than anything in the class. At high speeds however, the Enzo is much more stable and corners a lot better. Coupled with it's amazing brakes, it will rival the 911 GT1 around the Nurburgring. The other cars in the class aren't as good. However, the Pagani Zonda S (22 tokens) isn't a bad car. Decent low-mid acceleration with good brakes and handling. On normal circuits, or sections of the Nurburgring with no long straights, this car will definitely compete. The Porsche Carrera GT (22 tokens) is very useful for the cone challenges. It's certainly not the quickest, in fact its low-mid acceleration is very poor compared to many in the class. But it has a unique feel of very very good handling and brakes, coupled with the ability to make it powerslide at low speeds in a very controlled manner. I had a lot of joy using this in the cone challenges, try it out!
The Saleen S7 feels very average to drive in this class. I had little joy on platinum. Average low-mid acceleration with better top end acceleration. Not the best around corners either. The Ford GT is just too slow to compete.
