We’ve seen it happen so many times, but it doesn’t stop NFL fans and pundits from buying the hype.

When a team wins the offseason by adding marquee names -- be it via trade, free agency or in the draft -- a lot of folks crown them as a legitimate contender for the upcoming season.

But time and time again, we’re reminded that winning the offseason is one thing. Putting it all together for 16 games is another.

Let’s dive into the 12 most overhyped teams in NFL history. And just to clarify, we’re looking primarily at pre-season Super Bowl contenders that didn’t come anywhere close to reaching expectations.
