Resilience Budget: Creating Opportunities for Job Seekers and Supporting the Unemployed
Description
Under the newly introduced SGUnited Traineeships programme, first-time jobseekers, such as graduates from ITE, Polytechnic and Universities, can gain valuable work experience during this crisis, said DPM Heng Swee Keat in his Supplementary Budget Speech in Parliament on 26 Mar 2020. Under this programme, Workforce Singapore (WSG) will co-share manpower costs with enterprises that offer traineeships targeted at local first-time jobseekers this year. Another new initiative, SGUnited Jobs, will see the creation of about 10,000 jobs over the next one year in both the public and private sectors. At the same time, financial aid will be provided to Singaporeans who may lose their jobs during this period, through a Temporary Relief Fund and COVID-19 Support Grant.
