Amsterdam’s historic city centre and red-light district is a major tourist attraction, but some residents say overcrowding and badly-behaved visitors are making the city unbearable to live in.
Tourists numbers are set to soar to around 30 million in the next decade and with fears about the impact of over-tourism, Amsterdam’s new mayor has come up with a number of radical solutions to ease overcrowding – including shutting down the red light district altogether.
For ITV's On Assignment, Richard Pallot travelled there to see if the sun is setting on Northern Europe’s party capital.
