He lives in a pineapple at the bottom of the sea, he’s yellow and porous and full of holes...but what do we really know about Spongebob Squarepants? What is that unwavering smile and positive attitude hiding? What is the dark secret underneath the happy facade of Bikini Bottom? It’s a world where a kitchen sponge lives with a variety of sea creatures who drive boats underwater and use glasses to drink for some reason. There’s a squirrel that lives in a dome, his best friend is a starfish, and he works at an underwater greasy spoon. None of it makes sense, or maybe it makes...perfect sense. What if there is some darker secret lurking around in the episodes of Spongebob Squarepants.

Thankfully, the internet is here to fill that gap. What is the relationship between Mr Krabs and Pearl? Is Patrick’s behavior something wrong with him or a product of his less than savory habits? Is Mrs Puff just a way to deal with a traffic accident?
