Stacking Good Days: Pursue Peace - Part 4 of 4 - 1/31/2021
Description
Message from Cameron McCullough of Ridgeview Church
Conflict leads to bad days but is easy to come by. Competing goals with family members, co workers, roommates, and others are a breeding ground for conflicts. These conflicts lead to broken relationships, stress, anxiety, and bad days.
Pursuing peace is the pathway to good days. The Bible has radical instruction for us in pursuing peace. We are to not repay evil with evil but to bless those who do evil to us. Jesus was our example in trusting in God in the middle of suffering, threats, and being reviled. It is as we follow his example that we can pursue peace in situations where evil is being done to us.
Passages:
Romans 12:18
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. NIV84
Psalm 34:14
Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. NIV84
1 Peter 3:8–11
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. NIV84
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. NIV84
