Activity Supplies & Instructions:

Alternative to plastic buttons:
Construction paper buttons-
Construction paper of various colors
Cut into various sizes of circles
Draw on dots to make them look like buttons
Laminate or use contact paper for more durability if possible

Game:
Felt for the cut-out shirts
10 Buttons per each child playing
Die
Place 10 buttons on each shirt. Child roles the die. That number of buttons they remove. Object of the game: to get all your buttons off your shirt. The last roll must be the exact number of buttons on the shirt.

Activity #1:
Fine motor activity allowing child to put buttons in container.
Box/Oatmeal container with slot cut into top
Large buttons to put in container
*Modify size of buttons if needed*

Activity #2:
Sensory Bag
Zipper bag
Duct tape
Hair gel
Items to put in bag: buttons, glitter, food coloring...

Activity #3:
Sensory Box
Box
Colorful Rice (Video coming soon!!!)
Buttons, scoops, spoons, cups…

Activity #4:
Sorting
Buttons of all colors & shapes
Something to sort them in: Muffin tins, colored cups…

Number Count
Index cards with numbers written on them
Various buttons

Patterns
Buttons to create patterns

Activity #7:
Button shaped blocks & string

Learning to sew a button
Fabric

**As per NYS regulations, put this as part of your daily plan during program hours. Also, make sure competent, direct supervision is a priority during any activity. Finally, make sure any materials used are appropriate for the age and ability of the children you teach.
