Thanasis Antetokounmpo 10 Points Full Highlights (12/2/2019)
Description
It's been a long time coming for Thanasis Antetokounmpo. Drafted by the Knicks in the 2014 draft, he ended up on their G-League (then D-League) squad. The next season, he signed some sort of training-camp deal with them and got waived before the season started. They later picked him up on a 10-day, which was a nice gesture. And after all that, once he finally got on the Knicks' active roster, he ended up only logging 6 minutes for them. All that work for 6 minutes of action and 3 measly buckets. That's how NBA careers go, sometimes. Off to Europe with you!
After a few years of pretty good (but rather low scoring) play in Andorra (how do they have a basketball team in that little country, you could stretch the team end-to-end and touch opposite sides of the country) and Greece, he's back!
Just want to put it out there: I frickin' LOVE nepotism. Just love it. It's the best thing ever, giving people unearned positions solely because of their relationship with important members of the organization. Who needs fair and consistent assessment of skill, free from bias? Not the Bucks, that's for sure! Gotta make sure Giannis sticks around when free agency rolls around!
For real though, Thanasis has looked better than I thought he would. His play in Europe didn't give me much hope for his prospects as a real NBA player, but he has been not the worst player I have ever seen. Granted, all of his minutes thus far have been in garbage time, but it still takes a good amount of skill to score even on the worst that the NBA has to offer (in this case, the end of the Knicks bench, where he used to reside). 10 points is nothing to sneeze at for someone as marginal as Thanasis, and it probably should've been even more.
Fun fact: Thanasis got as many assists as Giannis tonight, three. You don't get to see them, though, because they were all to D.J. Wilson (and they all sucked) and I want to drive traffic to the recently uploaded highlight video for that dude. So be sure to check that one out once you're done stoking your nationalistic fervor (I know you Greeks are really into that) with this one.
