The 10 Best Superman Actors

If you watched our last video, you’ll already know DC is looking to figure Superman out in a future live-action movie, but it's time to honor those who've already played the Kryptonian!

And while we wait for the Man of Steel's next cinematic appearance, it's time to look at the best actors who’ve helped bring him to life over the years across live-action and animation. You might be surprised at some of the names on our list. On top of being Heroic Hollywood's first Top 10 list, here are who we think the Top 10 Best Superman Actors are.

Inspired by the old school pulp heroes like Doc Savage and the Shadow, high schoolers Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster sought to emulate the success other creators had had in the new booming medium of comic books. The beginnings of Superman date back to January 1933 and after a few years and a lot of revision, he was finally published in June 1938 in Action Comics #1 and it is his first appearance that is attributed with the commencement of the Golden Age of Comics. Despite the fact that other heroes like Zorro and the Phantom already existed, Superman is considered the first “superhero”. They were just men who took on a masked identity, but the Man of Steel was the first with powers. Since Superman first appeared on the cover of Action Comics #1 in 1938, the superhero has changed with the times to remain a relevant icon of popular culture.
