Description

Listen up America. It’s a brand new decade! Yay. 2020 is upon us. It’s an interesting time in the United States, where political divides, economic gaps and social media strifes are eating at our core. All we do is argue with one another these days.

Certainly, our United States of America aren’t as united as they once were. Like forever ago.

Many of us are irreligious these days, we’re a nation of many races, cultures and opinions - which SHOULD BE a good thing. Diversity is SUPPOSED to be a good thing.

But as we’ll see in this video, there are some really good places to live, and some really LOUSY places to live.

10. Nevada

Okay. So here we go folks. We’re going to take a plane to our first worst state to live in America in 2020 because that’s really the only way to get there without a lotta drama. Number ten is Nevada.

Actually, that’s not true. People are moving to Vegas in droves. That’s right - Nevada is like the fastest growing state! That means...well nothing really, except that it’s growing fast.

Probably California refugees.

9. Arizona

No. Arizona isn’t that bad is it? I mean it too is a fastest growing state. Well, numbers wise it shore is kinda lousy. Arizona is in the top ten in three categories we measured. The high school dropout rate is 8 percent, which means 8 out of 100 kids here won’t amount to much. Which is sad.

Arizona ALSO is 9th in poverty levels, where a million people (or one in 7 people) makes less than $13,000 a year.

8. Tennessee

No there’s some really pretty mountains and a lot of culture, here. A lot of famous stuff came from the Volunteer State. Piggly Wiggly was first started here in 1916 that’s cool. Tennessee is home to baked beans and Goo Goo Clusters. And Moon Pies. Are Tennessee...people fat? Mountain DEW was started here.

7. Oklahoma

My how things have changed in Oklahoma. That was like in like 1950 or something it looks like. Today’s Oklahoma’s a little challenged. It’s the 4th cheapest place to buy a home in America, Oklahoma is. And of course, a lot of people would say that’s a good thing. But it’s mostly because it’s a poor state. So poor in fact that 14% of the population doesn’t have health care, only second to Texas’ 17%.

6. South Carolina

Let’s hop on a cool big ole’ fancy boat and talk about how bad our 6th worst state is, South Carolina. The thing about this state is it ranks low in every single category we measured. All of the states coming up are bad, but they have at least one category that they’re not so bad in.

Nuh uh. Not in South Carolina.

5. Alabama

Okay so you can only imagine that the deep south is going to dominate this list. They always do. Same as it ever was. For Alabama, it’s poverty and crime, mostly. Incomes are 7th lowest, home values are 7th cheapest, and poverty rates are 7th highest, and violent crime rates are...the 7th highest.

4. Arkansas

3. Mississippi

Poor Mississippi. Literally. It’s the poorest and most out of work state. Homes are the cheapest, and the most people in poverty live here, per capita. Schools are the 2nd worst performing in the nation, too.

2. Louisiana

So is Louisiana getting worse or are other states getting better? Last year, Louisiana was the third worst for crime - that hasn’t changed. The poverty rate here is still the third highest. And the unemployment rate is still the 5th highest, too.

1. New Mexico

If you live in New Mexico, sorry. And if you live in any of these other states, what are YOU doing to make your state a better place? Cause we identified a bunch of things that you can change yourselves, starting today.

This channel talks about America, different states, education, travel, geography and what it's like to live in different places in America.
