THE BEATLES ARE COMING!Beatlemania aka The Fab Four was born in the late 50's led by Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe(original bass guitarist while Paul played 6 string guitar),and Pete Best(original drummer)before asking Ringo Starr(Richard Starkey)to join the band and to drop Pete Best.In addition Stuart died at age 21 from a brain hemorrhage on April 10, '62.Introducing The Beatles coming out just 10 days before Meet The Beatles was released in Jan '64.After being turned down by record companies time again, it was not until Brian Epstein(The Beatles manager)saw The Quarrymen/Silver Beatles(The Beatles original band name) play at the Cavern Club in London in the early 60's who was inspired and signed them a record deal in May '62 at EMI Records on Abbey Road.George Martin(The Beatles Producer)wanted to capture a live recording album of The Beatles playing live at the Cavern Club, but terrible acoustics in the club and bad sound quality made Martin deflate the idea. Therefore The Beatles made their first live band album to capture the club vibe(playing together no overdubs)in EMI studios instead during a long jam session at Abbey Road which became to be the Please Please Me album. The Beatles first album was recorded on one day in a 13 hr straight jam session on a BTR 2 track tape machine. The album was a mixture of covers and Lennon/McCartney originals. Two years prior to The Beatles getting a record deal with Beatles producer George Martin, Beatles manager Brian Epstein, and The Beatles recording their debut album Please Please Me/Introducing The Beatles there was the August 1960-early Aug '62 Mark 2 Beatles line up.Mark 2 Beatles line up made a handful of recordings and club appearance's.In addition some of the earliest recording's that can be found and heard from the Mark 2 Beatles line up with Pete Best on drums are the '62 New Year's Day lost Decca Record sessions which was a Beatles audition recording session for a SHOT and a FIGHT to get a record contract deal. The 15 songs were chosen by Brian Epstein for the audition. In addition the session took place 165 Broadhurst Gardens in West Hampstead district in north London on Jan 1, '62.All recordings were recorded live on a mono tape machine without overdubs and remixing. Unfortunately The Beatles were again turned down by record company Decca, and even EMI rejected the lads too at times.Brian Epstein and The Beatles meet up with A&R man and Parlophone Label organizer George Martin on Wed June 6, '62 at London's Abbey Road studio for a final battle for a recording contract. This was the only recording session taken place at Abbey Road studio's with drummer Pete Best before Ringo Starr joining the group in Aug '62.I believe George was playing his '57 Black Gretsch Duo Jet, Gretsch Chet Akins Country Gentlemen, and his Gibson J-160E electric acoustic(there are rare photos of George playing his Rickenbacker 425 in '63 which was a guitar he acquired while visiting family in the US in '63)and a 12 string electric Rickenbacker 360/12.John playing his '58 Rickenbacker 325(painted black over the original natural wood color), Gibson J-160E electric acoustic, with a Vox AC-30/AC-15. Paul playing his '61 Hofner Violin Bass with a Quad head on top of a Coffin cabinet(possibly a Vox too)during early to mid maybe even late '63.John Lennon's Rhythm was outstanding and George Harrison's lead lines were so fluent and remarkable.Long Tall Sally rockandroll 12bar blues in G written by Robert Bumps Blackwell, Enotris Johnson, and Little Richard recorded by Little Richard and released in March '56 on the Specialty Records label. The Beatles version was a live concert setlist/BBC favorite dating back to when they were the Quarrymen in '57 and remaining on their setlist until their last touring years in August '66.The Beatles were influenced by Little Richard and Paul would be the leader singer on this track and George Martin(Paul's 5th Beatle)on piano. In addition this track would be recorded in a single take on 3/1/64 during the A Hard Days Night session.Ladies and Gentlemen,The Beatles!
