Description

The life of Freewheeling "Frank" Franklin. From his first day on the boat to today.

In this video I don my head-cam and we ride to the Oregon Coast Historical Railway. This place gets a 10+++ from me!! First for me, it's very dog friendly so I get to smell all the smells. Everyone there had so much local knowledge about all the things on display and were very helpful, kind and welcoming. And the best best part is, you can go onto and into all the really cool things they have there! I just can not say enough good things about The Oregon Coast Historical Railway. They do have limited hours so plan on Wednesday or Saturday from 10am to 4pm It will be well worth your time. And if you have kids, or are one it is a must do! And believe it or not, The Oregon Coast Historical Railway is free to go in. They do have donation jars and The Oregon Coast Historical Railway is worth supporting however you can.

I also found a couple of public reviews on line, see below.

"A look in the past"
During our recent stay in Coos Bay, there is a museum that is just down the street from our hotel that until this recent trip, I have not paid much attention to. This is the week between Christmas and New Years Eve. I'm standing in a McDonald's parking lot after getting my wife an Peppermint Iced Mocha which see loves. across the street I'm looking at a locomotive and rail cars with Christmas lights lit up end to end and very well done. I text my sister about it and she tells me it is a museum. I like railroad stuff so we visit the next day. Once inside a very nice stroll through Coos Bay history and very helpful people running the place. Make a nice little side trip while visiting Coos Bay.

"Best landing spot for me and 4-10 year olds"
If you love railroads and memorabilia you will love this small display even if you are not a youngster with yen to ride the rails. This is a perfect short stop for parents and grandparents to take the children for a unique fun outdoor adventure. If your kid is into Thomas the Train and all his buddies, this is a must see stop. Kids (and adults) get to climb into a real locomotive, pull the bell, ring the whistle, pretend to ride the rails and wave to all the passing traffic on Highway 101. Then you can clamber into various other cars, including a sleeping car and caboose. Kids will need to be supervised from some climbing into the top bunk and bailing off the back steps, and gramma will need to be guided down some steep steps but it is worth the trip. Clearly this is all authentic train buff heaven. Inside the museum is a wooden train set to occupy kids while adults can peruse some equipment and newspaper articles and other meaningful displays. We have gone multiple times and I'm ready to go again.
