The Gladiator Effect: 20 years of the film Gladiator. Are you not entertained?
Description
May 1, 2000, Gladiator hit the theaters. Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe, it won 5 Academy Awards. Over 20 years, it has also had such a profound impact on studies of Antiquity, Ancient Rome, Classical Studies and more. On this occasion, I celebrate the incredible movie, still so visceral and moving, with spectacular performances, special effects, and drama by sharing some real aspects of related monuments in Rome and beyond. Join me for Gladiator, the Colosseum, saving the tomb of the gladiator (Tomb of Marcus Nonius Macrinus, found in 2008), and the Gladiator Effect, from the top of the Colosseum during the Tod's funded restoration project!
