The Gladiator Effect: 20 years of the film Gladiator. Are you not entertained?

May 1, 2000, Gladiator hit the theaters. Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe, it won 5 Academy Awards. Over 20 years, it has also had such a profound impact on studies of Antiquity, Ancient Rome, Classical Studies and more. On this occasion, I celebrate the incredible movie, still so visceral and moving, with spectacular performances, special effects, and drama by sharing some real aspects of related monuments in Rome and beyond.
