The Story of Makayla Phillips and her journey to the American Idol top 11 | 2020 | Season 18

Makayla Phillips is a 17-year-old singer who is currently competing on season 18 of American Idol.
She’s made it to the top 11 after a close call, but can she win to the competition.

Makayla’s passion has always been singing, and she’s dreamed of being on America Idol ever since she was a little girl.
She actually auditioned for American Idol in 2017, but she was a couple of weeks short of the show’s required age limit.
Not one to give up, she also auditioned for “The Voice” but received a similar response that she was too young for the show.
Those auditions led her to audition for America’s Got Talent where she got her first big break.
Now in the Top 11, Makayla performed Miranda Lambert’s “ The house that built me” last week
Her performance was well-received by the judges with Katy perry saying “"I think she can give some of the other contestants that are in our Top 10 a run for their money, vocally, as long as she's picking the right song,"
Makayla’s top 11 performance was an improvement from the prior week but the pressure is on after being saved by Idol judges.
Fans will learn if Makayla advances during the next Episode of American Idol which will focus on Disney songs.
