These legendary sportspersons have not only made the country proud, but they have also lit a flame of hope in the hearts of many youngsters who wish to pursue their career in sports. These famous personalities have struggled their life to reach the top of the ladder. Nothing was served to them on a golden platter.

-Major Dhyan Chand (29 August 1905 – 3 December 1979) was an Indian field hockey player widely regarded as the greatest in the history of the sport.
-Sushil Kumar Solanki (born 26 May 1983) is an Indian freestyle wrestler.
-P.T.Usha is an applauded Indian track and field athlete. Also called Payyoli express.
-2008 Beijing Olympics gold medal winner in the 10m air rifle, Abhinav Bindra made the nation proud. He also won a gold medal in Commonwealth games in 2014 in Glasgow.
-Coming from the Kom tribe in Manipur is this five-time World Boxing champion- Mary Kom. She is the only Indian woman boxer to get qualified for Beijing Olympics. She won a bronze medal in the flyweight (51 kg) category setting an example for everyone who thinks that women aren’t physically strong!
-We are quite familiar with this legendary sportsperson’s life. This inspirational athlete is also known as ‘The Flying Sikh’. He is an Indian sprinter who made his debut while serving Indian army.
-Pullela Gopichand is a former Indian badminton player. Presently, he is the Chief National Coach for the Indian Badminton team. He won the All England Open Badminton Championships in 2001 becoming the second Indian to achieve this feat.
-Sania Mirza born 15 November 1986) is an Indian professional tennis player. A former doubles world No. 1, she has won six Grand Slam titles in her career. From 2003 until her retirement from singles in 2013.
-The only Indian brain in chess and former world chess champion, Anand became India’s first grandmaster in 1988. He was the first recipient of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 1991.
-Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar (born 24 April 1973) is an Indian former international cricketer who served as captain of the Indian national team. Considered as the world's most prolific batsman of all time, he is the only player to have scored one hundred international centuries, He is affectionately known as Little Master or Master Blaster.
