We’ve all seen a bunch of magic anime with a ton of different protagonists that each come with nuance to them. Some of them are overpowered from the start, starting out as the chosen ones or beginning their journey quite strong anyways. Jujutsu Kaisen is an example, Itadori wasn’t a wizard that’s for sure but he was quite strong nonetheless. However, some anime have chosen to develop their characters from scratch, so that we can relate to their journeys better and perhaps even see ourselves in some of their stories. This form of development is most prominent in Shounen anime, and even more so in anime about magic.
